Healthy Postpartum Snack Ideas
The first few weeks postpartum can be tough, and the postpartum hunger is real! These healthy postpartum snack ideas are intended to see you through the first few months of newborn life. Nutrient dense, they are sure to help you to increase your milk supply in the early weeks. They are perfect for breastfeeding Mums.
These snacks usually have no more than about five ingredients, and can be made and stored for use later. I’ll be honest I make these snacks whether in a postpartum season or not. Usually its my husband and toddler that eat the majority of them. They make for great lunch box snack ideas too!
Postpartum and the newborn stage is a strange and intense time. The days (and nights) can be long, but time is often short. Throw some older kids into the mix and your household and work responsibilities and it can feel pretty chaotic. Especially with my second postpartum experience, looking after myself wasn’t very high on the priority list. I’m determined that future postpartum seasons will be different. These snacks are there as a reminder (to myself mostly), that postpartum Mum matters. You have to feed yourself. The great thing is, that the ingredients in all these postpartum snack ideas are clean. So I’m happy to share them with my toddler too (iykyk).
Listen, at least for me I would be lying if I said that I found my postpartum body beautiful. Am I proud of my body for growing and birthing a human being? Yes! Do I love the stretchy tummy, and massive milk boobs? No. It’s okay to say that you don’t like your postpartum body. Try to remember, that much like the new born phase, it’s just that, a phase. It will change again. You will not feel like a stranger in your own body forever. Do I want to do absolutely everything in my power to feel like me again? Yes. And that is okay, normal even.
These snacks are there to offer you a healthy and quick option! To satisfy that insatiable hunger and fuel your milk supply. They are made from healthy whole foods. Because tired, postpartum or not, one more Rich Tea biscuit is never going to be good for you or baby. You, your baby and your tired postpartum body deserves better!
