Seed Oil Free Store Cupboard Essential Recipes
Since having kids both my husband and I have become a lot more intentional with what we eat. When you start to actually look at the ingredients list on your favourite bottles of sauce you quickly become alarmed at the number of seed oils and artificial ingredients. When considering only yourself its easy to let it go. But when it comes to feeding your kids, suddenly your standards are much higher. Do I want my kids consuming E-numbers, NO! Seed oils, NO! Artificial flavours, NO! I want organic, natural, clean ingredients. Once you start down this path you quickly realise just how many brands aren’t putting our health first. Your choice become much narrower, and inevitably you start to make more at home. At least that’s what happened for me. I have learnt so many new skills in the kitchen because I have been forced to make a homemade version. This year is my first year really growing anything in a vegetable garden, so hopefully I will be further inspired. Some of the most helpful swaps that I have made (that I never thought I would be able to make) have been store cupboard essentials. My own stocks, my own sauces, my own curry pastes. All homemade. All stored so that I can throw meals together in minutes. Not only does this sort of food prep save you time, it also saves you a lot of money. Clean ingredient sauces are very expensive. Making them at home is just so much cheaper. I do a supermarket shop once to twice a week (delivered to my door). It’s expensive, but a lot less than it could be, as pretty much every item is a whole food. (This excludes nappies whose price makes my eyes water!) Cooking from scratch is not only good for your health, and your store cupboard, but your purse too! And once you start you realise just how easy it is. In this collection you will find all my tried and tested recipes for your store cupboard. All are seed oil free. All make delicious accompaniments to your meals!
